‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
These words, spoken by Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew, continue to guide our church today. As Christians, we are called to love God and all people as ourselves. To act out that love, we must serve our world.
At Trevecca Community Church, our purpose is simple.
Love God. Love People. Serve the World.
To live this out, we choose to “gather, grow, and go”.
Since the early days of the church, Christians have gathered together with a common purpose. Like those early Christians, we seek to live out our faith in community by gathering to:
- Experience the inclusive and transforming love of God
- Pray and worship
- Contemplate the powerful message of Christ
- Participate in communion
- Share in life through community groups
Our desire is to grow in faith, understanding, and love to be more like Christ. We don’t grow to earn God’s love — we grow because of God’s love.
The purpose of gathering and growing is simple: to equip and empower us to share the Kingdom of Christ with all.
Talk is cheap and the world has heard it all. As Christians, we need to display the love of Christ for all the world to see.
Outreach is often viewed as something done by missionaries in distant countries. But, we are all called to reach our world by finding our passion and using our abilities to share God’s love with people in our workplaces, neighborhoods, and communities.
To bring Jesus to our world, we need to be Jesus to our world.
